Good to hear everyone will be back. Yeah it's nice to see and also makes erything run smoother for FA since it's not the first time for anyone. Except of course the one new guy who comes in lol, but still. I should have everything sorted out and ready to go by tomorrow hopefully. If so then I will run the draft lottery Saturady night and we can continue with the offseason schedule starting on Monday. I will send out an e-mail when I know for sure the problem is fixed and we're ready to go. Offseason Schedule: - New ratings installed - Farm salaries = 100% - Entry draft order established - Trading/Dropping players open for 2 weeks - Dropping players closed until season starts (trading stays open) - 24 under re-signs - Optional RFA re-sign - Open FA on RFA/UFA for 2 weeks - Under cap unassigned claims for 1 week (the claiming of any player may NOT exceed the cap) ---------------------------------------------------------- - Cap lowered to 57mil/Farm salaries = 10% - All teams may claim remaining unassigned players (stays open) - Entry Draft - Teams must be under cap for season start - Minimum roster requirements must be met for season start - Start season/Dropping players re-opens

I may be old, but I don't miss much, and I didn't miss the rule change on Min roster requirerments being changed to the start of the season, in the past we had a week after season start.

It's not a rule change really, more of a rearrangement. The new sim enforces roster restrictions so I have no choice. There is more than plenty of time for teams to accumulate the players they need before the season starts.

Awesome work! It is really gratifying seeing the ratings up on the site. I agree with Gavin, the OV's for the better players do seem a bit higher. This probably has something to do with the new ratings. Going to be another competitive year, but early on looks like Calgary, Nashville and Chicago will be top teams. Edmonton shouldn't be overlooked, thats a very strong roster with a LOT of scoring.

Are we still in need of a new Jets GM? Any leads? Need me to put out some "feelers"? I'm sure I could find someone through The Hockey Writers connection - we have a private message board for our stable of ~100 writers. I obviously don't know them all so could approach the ones I know best first.

Let's just say 4 or 5 of the 8 are superinterested........ would expansion be something to discuss?

I think it would be tough to organize this offseason with so little notice. Plus, the expansion teams will undoubtedly be quite bad so the GMs would have to be very committed.

Hey thanks for the offer Chris, but we got one.
Everyone please don't attack the new GM will trade offers just yet, let him settle in for a day or two to get a handle on things.
Expansion would be tough but eventually I'd like to have 28 teams. But this is something we'd have to do one team at a time and definitely not this season. Plus like Jake said, it might be hard finding a GM to takeover a team that is gonna be pretty bad.

I noticed the Conferences are still the same as last season, as far as teams, but the divisions are right. Just askin cause i saw Align league function was run this morning.

I know I'm a relative newbie here, compared to some. But I think 26 teams is just great, the four less franchises than the real NHL provides a little deeper talent pool that makes the league fun. So I guess my question is why would we even consider expansion? We usually have a GM or two that has to be replaced every years as is. Just my two cents worth.

Right now I kind of agree with Joe... we are still at least 1 GM short of having every team handled by a fully committed GM. We should at least wait until we have all the teams well looked after before considering expansion.
Once we do feel every team has a committed GM, then I think it would be a good idea if there are a couple of good candidates wanting in. It is always a good thing to add a couple of quality GMs to the group as it would improve participation.

I would just prefer to have an equal amount of teams in each division. It's not something I'm looking to do right away, but eventually. I noticed the Conferences are still the same as last season, as far as teams, but the divisions are right. Just askin cause i saw Align league function was run this morning. The top half of the standings page won't be updated until I create a schedule, which will come later. The bottom half is correct, as well if you download the league file it is correct.
