You guys really need to be a little more literate when sending in trades. Type out full names and make sure picks are accurate! Gavin or I shouldn't have to reply to people to ask wtf you just submitted

Have to say well played by Ray & Kevin on recent trade; seems like helping out each other in the end.

Does anyone else feel UFAs signed during free agency should have to remain on their teams for X amount of time, say a certain percentage of the season before being traded?

Does anyone else feel UFAs signed during free agency should have to remain on their teams for X amount of time, say a certain percentage of the season before being traded? I would tend to agree. Another league I used to be in had a minimum # of games he had to play with the team the UFA signs with (somewhere between 10-25 GP if I recall). Something we should probably discuss before next season. I seem to recall discussing before and Jon or Gavin or someone brought up a good point - who would actually monitor this...

They are like any contract, a traceable commodity, period! Then we need to make unassigned untradeable, actually any new contract should have to be the same

I'm not sure what putting a time requirement on trading UFAs would accomplish... NJ would have traded those players this season eventually. Does it matter whether it is before the season or at game #15? I like the system now... it favours the transfer of prospects/picks from contenders to rebuilders and it creates a cycle that keeps all teams competitive (albeit at different times).

Btw... I hope Jim crunched some numbers before that trade, because I'm not sure how he can afford it!

It should be up to the individual, if they want to over pay for ufa's picked up just to be moved, something I prefer not to do via trade, so as not to over-pay twice. paying 3-4 mil + for 5-6 d-men or bottom 6 forwards, isn't happening in Philly.

Does it really matter as he is not bidding on free agent and that is what the cap is for and thinking he is not bidding on unassigned unless he moves some else but cap has no barring on anything I don't thing. A lot of guys go over and just cannot bid when over

Your right, it doesn't matter. It is Boston's responsibility to get under the 57 million dollar cap by the seasons start date. Just was curious.

It's a genius use of cap space. You can't sign picks or prospects in FA, but you can make smart signings and parlay them into assets. That move alone gets my vote for GM of the year.

I agree - Coach G playing well within the rules and speeding up his rebuild in a major way. Well done. Jake also made strong point. With it being too difficult to track, the current system is likely the way things should continue.
