I think we're done with the 2nd round, so its list time for the 3rd round, right? Yes, I'll be sending out info for that a little later, just have some football drafts to do first

Surprised: by the Wild - Kevin seems like such a prospect hound, but missed several picks...

Surprised: by the Wild - Kevin seems like such a prospect hound, but missed several picks... The sunday deadline I thought it was 10 PM deadline but seen it say 10AM. So missed two picks then, my fault for not paying more attention. Not a very deep draft, figure just make picks at the end.

Minnesota moment - I have to say, for having the last pick in each round, I thought I made out pretty damn well in the draft this year

Looking back at tis yr's draft: imo here's a list of the rounds & who I feel are sleepers and thus very good value picks for where they were drafted: 2nd rnd: 27. Nashville, Simon Hjalmarsson - small, but has nice off. potential - boom or bust! 28. Dallas (from Minnesota), Nick Petrecki - surprised tough dman didn't go in the 1st! 31. Buffalo, Logan MacMillan - strong playoff in juniors - sign of things to come form v. good 2 way forward? 47. NYRangers (from Philly), Akim Aliu - big frame - has talent, just has to put it all together - now with London Knights might be just what the Dr. ordered for this young guy with reported attitude/off-ice issues... 51. Boston (from Calgary), Brett MacLean - fell big time from where he was drafted in NHL - big time scorer in junior, but can he take that to the next level - I'm not so sure, but definite worth the risk at this position! 52. Chicago, Dana Tyrell - gotta love the heart & determinationthis guy shows - every team needs a guy like this!
3rd rnd: 54. TampaBay (from Minnesota), Mark Katic - 1st rnd skills, awesome skating, 3rd rnd size... 55. Boston, Luca Cunti - highly skilled & great skater, but lacks physical presence at this point - interesting to see how he does in NCAA as he crosses the pond this yr. 72. Phoenix (from Washington), Kent Patterson - early compared to where he went in NHL, but he might be best 'tender from this draft in 5yrs (might not say much given the goalies in this draft....lol)
Rnd4: 79. Nashville, Trevor Cann - G - surprised he fell to the 4th 82. Florida, Evgeny Dadonov - showed some skill in Super series - will he ever come over is the question... 95. Phoenix (from Carolina), Maxim Goncharov - could turn into nice 2-way dman - like his potential 104. Chicago, John Negrin - NHL FLames brass are big on this recently drafted big dman with excellent skating - hope he develops some more offensive flair!
Rnd5: 108. Florida, Juraj Mikus - like the potential of this big dman. 115. Florida (from Pittsburgh), Zack Torquato - another Panther pick! offensive gem if he continues to work on his skating... 116. Dallas, Brett Sonne - I expect breakthrough season in juniors for this Calgary Hitmen forward. 120. Edmonton, Justin Vaive - Bloodlines! - father is former NHL sniper Rick. Probably not the off. potential of dear old Dad, but good value pick here with definite upside. 125. Nashville (from Philly), Vladimir Ruzicka - more bloodlines - Jr has skill, but does he have the drive? 129. Calgary, Nichlas Torp - Swedish dman - I like his upside...
Missed/skipped picks: 144. NewJersey (from Colorado), Mattias Modig - in this weak draft for goalies, this guy is one of the better ones...
Feel free to comment or make additions...I might be a little biased, plus some prospects which I haven't seen or heard much on & thus know little about...
Flame out...
