What makes me think it was intentional is when he slams his stick on the ice in frustration as he's skating back to the bench. Then 5 strides later he hit the first striped shirt he could find. JMO.... but Wideman certainly does NOT have this kind of background, I wonder if this was Chris Neil (or someone else of that ilk)would they have gotton more time?

Has their been any other angles on the hit - unless there is, I don't think anyone can say for certain where his eyes were directed. From the angle we all see, it obviously looks really bad - but, I don't think that video tells the whole story. I'm in Calgary, a Flames fan, but could care less whether or not Wideman is suited up for the Flames or not... I just don't think this is a clear cut case for either side of the argument. I still think he gets 10 games or more as the NHL will want good optics on this - I heard this was even discussed on an American women's panel type talk show! In the media/scout lounge at the Dome last night before Hitmen game (there were tons of scouts & GMs including Tim Murray, Hextall!, Jarmo Kekalainen), a Preds scout sat at our table - we were all having an entertaining discussion on Wide-Dog - the Preds scout piped in and said - "he [Wide-dog] was simply pissed off". I said fair enough - still don't think it's that simple.
lol...jj

Its an interesting spot for Flames fans to be in.
On one hand you want to support your guy and want him there in your line-up, on the other hand Dennis Wideman is so god awful I don't think there has ever been a player I wanted off my team more than him. But we are also out of the race so having him there will help us get a higher draft pick.
So many things to consider.
All I know is that if it I don't take into consideration my personal feelings for the player having seen the play 100's of times now (it seems anyways) I can't see how he doesn't get double digit games (and he fully deserves it).

Anders Ericsson will always be my most "hated" Flame!
I still think Wideman should be a decent asset at the trade deadline. He has the ability to be a top 4 defensemen, or at least a power play specialist. I don't understand how he can go from being so good last year, to what he is now.

Nashville fans low class to boo Patrick Kane. Pretty sad.

Nashville fans low class to boo Patrick Kane. Pretty sad. lol it's all in good fun. You know if the game was in Chicago they'd be booing players too. I really hope the NHL realizes that John Scott is the best thing to happen to the skills comp and game in years!

Oh, I never said he shouldn't be suspended. He deserves a suspension and a good one. Maybe 10 games. But I just don't think it was intentional. Stupid, reckless, even negligent. But not intentional. I really think he was almost out on his feet and didn't really realize what he was doing.

Nashville fans low class to boo Patrick Kane. Pretty sad. That's a sign of respect. Toronto fans booed Bobby Orr every time he touched the puck in the day.

Bobby Orr wasn't an alleged raper though

At least he didn't allegedly rob and assault a cabbie who also fell eerily silent. I'm Big Ern! I'm above the law! I can buy my way out of anything!!!!! Must be a big Kingpin fan. He wasn't booed because they can't beat the Hawks.

lolllllolllllllllLOLOLOLLLLLLOLOLLL lolololollllolollolloolllolololoolollolllolllololll- I think they should hang him and kick him out of the league and boo him forever. What a joke he is and allegedly a good guy and good hockey player. But hey better to be a hater and make a joke of the allstar game by booing the biggest allstar there even if it isn't true just a lie. I was gonna watch the game and and enjoy it, but that ruined it for me. I'm not gonna argue with guys that have no clue what they are talking about, so this maybe my last word on this.

Nashville fans low class to boo Patrick Kane. Pretty sad. Just to keep the record straight, when I made this statement, I knew exactly why they where booing him, and that for me was very sad and painful to watch.

If the game was in Calgary Taylor Hall would have been booed, if the game was in LA Gibson and Perry would have been booed, if the game was in Philly LEtang would have been booed etc.
Seems like an odd thing to be upset by and certainly has nothing to do with class.
Rival players get booed that happens in every sport with every fanbase.

When Bobby Orr got booed it was out of respect, not hatred.
