I'm in Montreal for training but looks like I missed the busiest opening FA day in league history. Damn!

I am so happy with the new blood mixing it up and sending offersheets.
Especially since the offer sheets show they have read the rules and are using them to their fullest (aka 999,999).

I wish the compensation change starts at 1,000,001, but only because I hate these odd number bids.

The guns are definitely not blazing. Will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow when all these guys are about to close out.

The only RFA in any real risk is Bishop, due to Nashville's salary situation. The rest are easy matches. If I had a 1st round pick, I'd personally put 3,999,999 on Bishop, but I don't have one and nobody seems interested in trading for any of my players...

There's an unspoken rule in poker, don't call out the board.. I think it applies here as well.

You will now see the "$" symbol on some UFA players, from the rules.....
- After the initial bid on a player, if the player goes an entire day without a new bid he will then go "Pending" (denoted as $Player Name$), if he then goes an entire second day without a bid he will then be "Closed" and signed.
- To bid on a player that is set to close that day (marked as $) you must make a minimum raise of $250k (first team to bid that day only), all bids thereafter may be $100k raise.
- To bid on a player that is set to close that day (marked as $) AND you have NOT previously bid on that player then you must make a minimum raise of $500k (first team to bid that day only), all bids thereafter may be $100k raise
- If a player does NOT have $Player Name$ then the minimum raise is $100k

Well the Nashville trade makes me feel more comfortable about putting in an offer sheet for Hjalmarsson. I was originally debating between him and Vlasic.

Might teams actually get some UFA bargains this year! ? ! Let's see how the rest of FA Friday Frenzy goes from here...
