Wow, huuuuge move by San Jose! Eug, your move! That was a pretty huge move Jon. I may have an ace up my sleeve, but this just got a lot more interesting.

Turco is playing pretty well in the JGHL I think I over payed for Burrows, but I figure I need to do everything I can to win this season.

though i missed voting on the franzen deal due to travel, i am actually abstaining from voting on the trade up right now. If my vote is needed ill throw it in, but id prefer to see how other people look at the situation

Pretty much workin on next seasons D and this move should wrap it up for me. Volchenkov Babchuk Jackman Campbell McDonagh Rozsival Depth of Morris - Jones - O'Brien

Wow! That is a lot to give up for Babchuk IMHO
He plays base on contract, if he keeps getting one year contracts, then he will play but if he gets a new 3 year or something like that, then he seems to go down in performance, at least watching him play down here the seasons he has played here. But I voted yes because the guys who did it know what they are doing. Always give GM the respect because they know what they are doing!

Unless you are willing to go back to our 7th season you miss the fact that when I get him next season to use, he will have 2yrs. left on his contract at 547,000 and a high rating, and will remain RFA when it expires. Glad you voted yes though.

I wouldn't call Babchuk a blue-chipper. After watching him in Calgary, I think his defensive play sucks and he's a pretty bad skater. He's a decent #4 D and is handy on the PP, but isn't anything more than that.
I passed it since the pick is a couple of years away, but that is a lot for Babchuk. Especially considering he may go back to the KHL next year.

I actually think he'll resign with Calgary, he seems to be enjoying his time here, but really I have no idea.

Ron payed a hefty price to get a starting goalie, but it was needed.
Not sure how I feel about the Ovechkin trade from Montreal's point of view... IMO you have to get a star skater in return if you trade a player like that. Oshie looks like a top six winger, not a first liner. Bogosian could bust. Ward is a fantastic addition to any team of course. I'll pass it, since I know Shawn has a plan in place and, with Ward, the value is about equal, but I'm still so-so on that return.
Anyways, it makes for an even more interesting season!
