I guess my sarcastic wit didn't come through there, Jon. I was just kidding about the Brodeur trade. I don't have any problem with it at all.

If you haven't voted on the present trade, please do so, it may need all 24 available votes. There are 4 of you who have not voted. I myself voted to pass this trade, don't really see why it should be rejected. The Canes got more for that 2nd, then I would have given, but that doesn't mean it should be rejected.

i dont like this version of the trade any better than the last one. The 1sts cancel out, and then youve got malone for gilbert.
whats left isnt enough for keith IMO

I agree with Monty, its really not any better.
If you really want to trade Keith for that little, twice....I'll vote to pass it, I don't understand it at ALL, but I'll pass it.

It's better than it was. So if he wants to move Keith that bad, pass it.

Maybe he knows something about Keith. Maybe he doesn't think he's getting any better and will have a shitty year. Maybe he doesn't like him and hasn't received any better offers. Maybe he thinks it's fair value. There are lots of moving parts here. A lot of ins, a lot of outs, a lot of what-have-you's. Don't think he's tanking.

I don't mind it. Coyle is supposed to be pretty good. agreed that he's still not getting a premium deal for a great dman but this is by no means rejectable.

Boys....I'm not getting something here. If Keith is so valuable, where are all your offers?
I think it's a fair deal. I'm getting three very good young players in Hanzal, Hackett and Coyle, a very well-rated d-man in Gilbert. Plus a first round pick and I get to move up a half dozen spots in this year's draft and get another player I've targetted.
And I'll repeat I don't see any better offers from the guys rejecting this deal. So how can anyone say Keith is more valuable than what I'm receiving. There's obviously no market for him.
If you think it should still be rejected, I'll respect your opinions though.

I agree with Joe, if Keith is so valuable why don't people make offers.....you get the best you can from players you are offering.

I agree with Joe, if Keith is so valuable why don't people make offers.....you get the best you can from players you are offering. I don't buy the "there haven't been offers" reasoning behind some trades. For Brodeur, yes I can understand it. 10 million dollar 35+ year old player. But for Keith, a young Norris calibre d-man, if you don't get the offers you want, don't move him! Be patient. You will eventually get the return you want. Either way, this trade will pass. It doesn't really matter to me.

We really need to move past the whole "well why didn't you offer better" argument. It's seriously flawed.. Players will get different offers at different points in the season. Just because there isn't a big market for a player at this point in the season doesn't mean he isn't worth more.
With Keith being more or less in his prime and paid like it, he would only fit in with a contender. The reason Joe didn't get more offers was because most of the contenders for this year are tight up against or over the cap. Tough to fit 6 mil there. Washington has room and gave him the best offer possible. I don't have a problem with the deal, but I do want us to stop using the "it's the best i was offered for him" argument.
