We all know that GMs saying a player is worth more doesn't really mean they're going to offer you more. Just because someone puts a value on someone doesn't mean they'd be willing to pay it. When I was trying to deal Stamkos after his first NHL season and the #1 pick that would be Tavares there were so many posts and I got so many PM saying I should have gotten more and they would have offered me X players. Those same GMs saying I should have gotten more offered me less, and the GMs who said they would have given me specific players all of a sudden didn't want to But I forged ahead and got a deal done. And where did it get me?.....a championship! ;D Ya just gotta roll with the punches.....

This will be my last post on this (I'm sure you're all glad to hear it ) and I'll admit I'm a little pissed at the way things went down the last two days. Consistently, from the start of this mess, I've maintained that I received fair value from the Caps. The only reason I raised the best offer point was to question those who felt I could have got a better offer, when in fact there were no better offers out there. I in no way made this deal because it was the only decent offer I received. Greg and I went back and forth on this thing 100 times before we came up with a deal we were both happy with. But I did make it quite clear on several occassions that I was dealing Keith, and Greg was the only guy who stepped up and gave me a credible offer. I'm just a little confused as to why this deal was so controversial. But I'll get over it.

Although I voted to pass, I didn't get the Tor/Nsh deal. I know Toronto is still a few short of the roster minimum but Nystrom and Strudwick are just as useless as two players they could have grabbed from unassigned, and still added two prospects

Nice move by Chicago and the Canes. Mac goes to a contender and the Canes get some nice pieces for the future. Peckham a nice pick-up for Kev.

Although Hawks gave up alot, this could be the year that Hawks have shot, but one year contract definitely puts it over top for Carolina but good for both, just one long term and other for this season's run

Nice trade for both teams, MacDonald will definitely improve the Hawks' second line.
I don't think the Hawks gave up that much. Peckham isn't a very good defenseman in the NHL, although he is decent this year for a fantasy team.

I felt I gave up pretty good value for a 1 year rental player. McDonald is being brought in to be an impact player right away on the 2nd line.
Stalberg is primed to break out any season now, but is simply taking too long for my tastes, plus his salary was a major issue for me this past off-season.
Stempniak could have an extremely good season in Calgary this season, always been streaky, but he should have a solid season this year.
Peckham's biggest asset right now is that he'll be an under 24 re-sign next year and 500k, so there is nothing but possibilities with him. He could also be re-traded as a 5th or 6th defenseman later in the season with his current DF rating.
I get stronger for this season, and I shed his contract and salary at the end of the year. I'll have nearly 28m+ in salary to spend next off-season, perfect to fill the few gaps I might end up with.

FA might get a little out of control next year... a lot of money, but not many top free agents

Damn it, just found out Santorelli is out 2-4 weeks with a shoulder injury. That's the second trade I've made this off season where the player I got back was seriously injured shortly after the trade (Zajac being the other).
