I passed the philly deal, because in terms of value, im not going to argue.
But the trade of a 2016 pick for a bit player makes me wonder:
Should we limit the complete liquidation of draft picks?

I really like the Kings acquisition of Petr Mrazek. Another solid goalie prospect for a team searching for a true starter.

That was an extremely tough trade to say yes to, particularly losing Mrazek and Doherty. But with you getting Elias, Washington getting Lecavalier, Philly getting Fisher/Okposo/Ehrhoff and the fact I pretty much exhausted trade talks with every other team, I really didn't have much of a choice. Let's just hope it pays off!

Maybe I'm missing something, but IMO the Calgary/Anaheim trade is brutal. Staal and Skinner are by far the most valuable assets in the deal, yet Calgary also gets a 1st rounder back and Emery, who will probably be rated like a 1A/B goalie next season.
Brandon Sutter is a career 3rd liner, Johnson may someday become a top pairing D but isn't there right now, Stastny looks like a 2nd liner now, and Kindl is really just having his first decent season at the age of 26. I just don't see what is in it for Anaheim... he's giving up more in every way. I just can't pass it.
*This has nothing to do with a rivalry with Calgary. I have passed every Nashville, Detroit, Philly and Toronto deadline deal this year.

Calgary just wins trades. I think it's very one-sided, but he's good at trading. Anaheim sees value and I'm not going to argue with what he sees. Staal is going to be an RFA and will be expensive and he gets some cost control. Skinner and Staal are studs. Tough to trade a one and two centre and not get a big return. He feels this is a big enough return and he's deep enough at centre.

From Calgary's standpoint he crushes the deal, from Anaheim's standpoint I really don't see where the benefit lies. Even if the "up side" is getting back 2 defensemen without giving any up, Calgary has a few better guys to choose from if you're going to give up Staal and Skinner.

I don't see a reason why Ana would trade those solid pieces for a marginal return.

I would tend to agree with this point of view as to what Al sees, The Ducks cut about 3mil right away, maybe more later, get decent (not great) return to an already strong Centered team, and get much needed help on the blue line. Johnson is permo d-man if he stays healthy. I see Johnson and Skinner as the best 2 in the deal. By pro standards Staal gettin older and the most one will get out of him is 6-yrs..

I have to agree with most after looking at trade. I normally give benefit to the experience GMs which these days is mostly everyone....I voted yes to deal but after really looking at it, I am switching to No. Ill under weather so looked at it too quick.....so please switch to no and guys go back and make it closer to even

Woah! Is this a joke? Brutal trade. Rfa or not, Staal is a top 5 player right now in terms of NHL production. Skinner has bounced back very well, and is still one of the best young wingers in the entire league. Then Emery AND a 1st?? Never saw "fantasy" value in EJ, and I'm afraid I never will. Stastny has been on a steady decline for the last 4 years. Kindl is decent, and Sutter will be rated like a great 3rd line C for years to come. But common.... I'm not one to say who a GM should be asking for from other teams, but considering the assets Chris has, this is a robbery.

If either Johnson or Kindl were to be swapped out with either Subban or OEL I would have said yes. It's just too far off
