I see Jake's point. We are forcing gm's to play what might be very inferior back-up's 15 times. But even nhl play with inferior backups.......

67 seems good to me, too, Gavin. Back-up should make a minimum of 15 starts. Plus I think we should have some guidelines on what are acceptable goalie pull settings. I'm not sure why we'd have to deviate too far from the default values in the simulator. if at all.

Where is the 67 number coming from? I really don't get it. Every single season after the 2004 lockout except for one has had goalies getting over 70 starts.

I think the numbers are out there, but more importantly its whatever we can all agree on. No one seems to have a problem with 70, is 67 too low? we can just do this HF style with a series of votes?

How about this. We set the limit at 70 games played, total. Then if a GM wants to set his hook settinsg so that the back-up is pulled early, the GM is wasting a potential start for his starter. Kind of solves the overuse of starters problem and eliminates the loophole at the same time.

Just put in a 3 goal limit for the backup and cap the number of games (at a realistic 70-75 number!). This here sounds pretty simple to me. 70 is a nice round number as well.

I just think the backup should get 15 starts instead of 12 starts. I can agree to a 3 goal against minimum for goalie switching, that's realistic. I don't want default, because I think the default setting is terrible, goalies are super streaky in the sim, they are either great or terrible, and when they are terrible you want them OUT.
If we enforce the 3 goal against limit for changing goalies, the number of total actual games played isn't very important, just as long as the backup gets 12-15 starts (whatever we settle on)

How does everyone feel about that?

Why do we need to force more back up starts than are seen in the NHL? I think forcing 7-10 starts would be a lot more realistic than 13.
