Gavin I appreciate the passion and certainly prefer that to people just clicking Yes on deal without thinking or even looking at it. I just wanted to dial back the anger towards it because while I do agree it is a deal to look at it wasn't quite as severe as being presented. Keep posting those opinions and speaking out against deals you don't like as I do believe it only helps the league for us to evaluate things, moreso if done in a bit of a less worked up state!! I'm really not THAT angry. I thought my first post bringing it up was very calm and diplomatic. Once the debate begins, I get more heated. I can certainly see and relate to that.

My note never said there should not be discussion or disagreement. My initial understanding was that Chi was calling for a review of the vote ( possibly overturning it was my understanding) I was not for that. I love the discussion on this thread because it helps me gauge value which I have a very difficult time of so far. Translating NHL success to JGHL success is interesting for sure. I think a year or two of watching the ratings adjust and seeing how picks progress may be help. I haven't felt like anyone has tried to rob me and quite the opposite in fact.
But calling the trade "stupid" and insulting new owners would go far further to push people to quit and leave us hanging in my opinion than suffering another year or two on the outside looking in. Has anyone in this league not made a trade the regret? Or made a trade that turned out far better than you imagined? Time will tell for Buffalo but he the GM and that's the joy of this league. You get to make the deal and live or die on it.

Over the years we have had much more intense discussions, as most of us know, name calling etc.. As the league grows older, so do we. Gavin already said he over reacted in the heat of the moment. Bobby you are correct, diplomacy always gets it said in a kinder way.

Calling a trade dumb is not synonymous with calling the GMs involved dumb. People get talked into bad deals all the time.

I think it is a good general rule to just post once about a trade. Get your opinion out there (respectfully), and then leave it.

Just to add here, by no means do I see Silfverberg as a superstar or untouchable. He's had disappointing seasons, and possibly doesn't have 1st line offensive upside. Still, any player who's 25, healthy, and coming off consecutive 20+ goal seasons has good value. With Perry gone, it's not unreasonable to assume he could net 30 next year.
Admittedly I didn't know much about Greenway, but Corey might know him very well and see superstar written all over him. That's where it gets a little subjective, and we should give some benefit of the doubt here. It's not a completely lopsided deal and if Greenway is a top 20 prospect then he's worth a good player on his own later.
Personally, I've just seen too many power forwards flop, from Jessiman to Kyle Beach to Tangradi, they were all called elite and had monster lower level stats. Does this mean Greenway will join them? Who knows, time will tell. But we should keep an open mind because otherwise you can argue against any deal where prospects are involved. Corey seems like he knows his stuff and keeps up to date so let's give him leaway.

To think I could of drafted Saad with that pick instead of having to trade for him, Chris took Jenner just ahead of me. It's a dice roll.

Now Brandon Montour is solid potential. PPG in the AHL, few points since the call up during the year, should be a roster player next year, he'll have every chance to succeed, worthy payment for a choice UFA contract.
