I'm sure Greenway will be great...in 4 years or so, as a 3rd liner...just getting his NHL start. I'm sure thats not what you told Corey though. Wow. You do realize Corey is an adult and capable of formulating his own opinion on players? So you didn't negotiate and sell your case like anyone would on a trade? Of course you did, and of course a person's opinion is capable of being influenced. I happen to think a new, inexperienced GM, might not have a totally clear understanding of the development time a guy like Greenway is going to have. Corey said he'll be more impactful than Silfverberg "right away"...he isn't going to be rated! So I think, he accepted a deal that is really quite bad. Its a trade that I don't think any GM thats been in the league for awhile would EVER make, and I think it was voted as a pass as a result of voter apathy. I'm willing to bet it was you who approached Corey to acquire Silfverberg and not him going after Greenway as well...given who benefits now and who might benefit in a few years. This is not an attack on you Jake, but it was a, lets be blunt, its a SHIT deal. Greenway WILL be in college 2 more years, he is committed. Then its AHL to prep, if he excels it might make it in 3 years, ratings in 4, thats just how it is. While he isn't bad by any means, and he is large which has its advantages, he's still a long way away from the NHL, and frankly PPG at NCAA level is like "above average", the top players triple those numbers. Jakob Silfverberg might not currently be the best player in the world either, but he's in the damn NHL, that means he has ratings, GOOD ratings and a great contract thats only getting stronger in value next year. He's got potential for 60 points next year easily. He's shown constant improvement. I have not heard from a single person besides yourself and Corey as to why this deal is anything close to fair.

Over all I think Corey has been an asset to the league, he's intense and shows a strong active interest in the league. Just what we want.

Agreed, time to put it in the past now.
In other news, Toronto going all in with Rinne and Sedin! (Weird, because he told me he was throwing in the towel and didn't want my rentals, I see how it is! Lol)

Lol) He's been on the fence all season, the other day I tryed to pry Pavelski away from him, but when he mentioned Saad - Palmieri - and Schenn in the same sentence, I said feet don't fail me now.

Yup! Not exactly all in, but close. I have too many ratings to just sit on - Kuznetsov Toffoli have prime ratings now that will probably decrease a bit next year. Still preferred to sell all things considered, but the market just wasn't too hot so hey, might as well give it a shot. The alternative of trading Jagr for a 2nd, and Pavelski for a package of mediocrity just didn't sit well. These guys have served me well and deserve dignity, and to go out like the seasoned warriors like they are. So alas, watch out boys, especially those in the East cause the Leafs can now dance the tango with the best of them!

Should also mention that Greg and I have always had smooth and fair negotiations so this deal wasn't too hard to figure out. I really like Saarela, and the 1st was already on the table, but I didn't wanna cheapen out on him and gave him good value without breaking the bank. Here here Greg, good luck with the rebuild, hope it's a quick one so the Caps are once again a threat in the East for years to come.

What about this savvy, late push by Nucks Joe! Sleeper in the West! (9-1 in last 10!)

I think the Flames/Oilers trade needs a second look by our fellow GMs and I was wondering why the voters who voted to accept did so.
Chris and Bobby are great GMs but I'm not seeing the benefit here for Edmonton. Not necessarily saying all trades have to be even on both sides every time, but this one seems way off to me.

My thoughts.... Chris offered a decent trade that i would have accepted however seeing my team is realistically 3 years down the road I asked for Woll instead. Im a Leaf fan. It has some sentiment to me. Lazar hasnt met anyones expectations and Chris is a Flames fan. Its simple

Appreciate your comment, Mike. True, Lazar is the more prominent name, but this was a tactical trade by both Bobby and I. I approached him about Lazar (NHL Flames fan so like to have some of their plans). He immediately targetted Joseph Woll, who I strategically drafted last year, wanting some help for the future in goal. Bobby's a Leaf's fan. Get to know Woll before you dis him! www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=272227NCAA all-rookie team NCAA Hockey East (Honourable Mention) All Star Team - youngest player by 3 yrs on that team 1.50 GAA in 2 WJC GP Lazar been less than stellar since being drafted but still think he can be solid 3rd liner for Flames (apparently recovering from mono this yr, but wasn't exactly lighting it up with Sens even before that)

Maroon for Davidson IMO is by far the most lop sided deal we have seen at the deadline. 30+ goals for 3 points. A blue liner that barely made the bottom pairing on the Oilers.

Going forward, certainly looks in Devils favour, but I think Al (Ducks) looking for D depth for this season given the awesome season he's having, with D depth being his Achilles heel; Davidson cheap contract and high DF rating. Two vet GMs making a hockey deal. You could think of it as trading for a UFA if Davidson has no value beyond this system, but he's young and can get back on track (as dmen always tend to take long to mature)...I don't have a prob with this deal.
