Interesting first trade... I like it from both teams perspectives. Chicago really needed a new face to their franchise, hopefully Tavares is that guy. Montreal already has a superstar and needs a better supporting cast... maybe Kane or Schenn will center Ovechkin in the future...

Its wilson i am banking on as a top 2 line center in the future.

Way to start it off with a bang fellas! Now all you gotta do Gavin is work out a deal with Anaheim for Okposo!

According to HF, hockeydb and the Vancouver Giants website Kanes a center I'll give one link. Don't feel like giving the other two. whl.ca/stats/player.php?id=24816Anyway, we won't find out if this trade had a winner for a couple years. Kane and Wilson are both great prospects, I think at least two of the three assets you got back will have to turn out well to give you the better side of the deal, which isn't unlikely to happen at all.

Wilson was extra for me as both he and Hodgson had great seasons in the minors last year. Hodgson was named prospect of the year by HF, so he was the natural keep (Wilson came in 4th himself). I'm interested in keeping Bailey primarily because gaining Tavares means I have two players who are likely to play on the same line in the NHL and their group success will translate into ratings for both players.
I'm extremely happy to be drafting Tavares.

Come on guys (Gavin & Monty) - you're takin' the drama out of the draft revealing who you are likely to take...lol

hmm... i like this NYR - BUF deal for both teams... Buffalo unloads some salary and gets a boat load of high picks and prospects... and NYR gets some much needed talent, to try to compete.. nice !!

I do not want to have another issue with the NYR (the team not the GM personally) so before this goes through (if it passes) I need to know that the NYR GM is aware of the rules for UFAs and that they know they will lose Smith after the upcoming season and Kipper after two seasons, as there are no UFA re-signs.
And, since Joe is an RFA for this upcoming free agency that he will automatically be your one re-sign player, as well Buffalo cannot trade anymore players who will be a free agent for the upcoming free agency.
So Curt, please respond here or shoot me a PM on this matter. Thanks!
