I think it has, but that decision is for you and Jon to make. IMO if I guy offers a bigger pick over a lessor pick, cause he doesn't have the lessor pick, it should fly. JMO I'd allow it only if the bidder specifically stated "I don't have the correct comp, this is the comp I'm offering instead" (with it being better picks). Don't wanna have to check on shit and then send a message about it, etc, don't want the babysitting basically. I just made an error, I wouldn't give up a better pick, not hands the current rule

Pretty happy with my pickups, all guys I feel could have potential bounce back seasons and very little money invested in those risks

Welcome to Toronto Mike Smith! He might not be the best rated out there, but should at least give us a better chance every night this season.

Shame I couldn't sneak Radulov out for 9.1, but thats okay (THANKS KEVIN!). Now its time to cross my fingers for some good seasons, especially with the rookies that look like they're gonna play. Obviously Dahlin and Zadina but also Thomas has snuck in there and got himself a job. Cousins looks like he's been promoted to 2nd line on PHX and getting good ice time. Won't be much of a season this year, maybe an 8th playoff spot or something, but with some luck next year I'll be contending again.

I really thought someone was gonna take a run at Karlsson and/or especially Tavares. I was so tight on the cap that it would have been hard to match a high offer on one of them, no way I could have covered both.
If Edmonton was willing to give up another 1st and $717,502 more on the offer he could have put St. Louis in a little bit of a bind.

But that's just me, do not see the value of doing that no matter who!

As long as they can be counted on to show up, its not a big deal, especially if aren't pushing yourself up against the cap to do it. If I only had 10m to spend, it would be a bad idea, but when you have 15m or so AFTER signing one...meh

In general I think max deals are horrible for cap management, but as Ron said, 1 year deals are easier to work around. It's when it gets to 2-3 years where you can potentially really get %^&*ed. End of day you're investing 1/6th of your cap into one player, so that player better be incredible both here and in the NHL.
